President Barack Obama is projected to win re-election.
The president took the key battleground state of Ohio, a victory that effectively tipped the race in his favor, earning him a second term as president.
The race was tight for much of the night, with both the president and Mitt Romney taking many of the states they were expected to hold. But momentum swung toward the president late, with Ohio serving as the decisive factor. The president had 275 electoral votes with tallies in four states still to be counted.
Romney easily won the state of Indiana.
