Indiana's unemployment rate for August increased despite job growth in the state, according to the latest job report released Friday.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development said Indiana employers continue to expand their workforces, bringing 7,200 private sector jobs.
The state’s job growth for the month of August tripled the national average.
Although the state’s unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percent to 8.3 percent in August, officials said Indiana is still outperforming the U.S. average for private sector job and manufacturing growth in 2012.
