Thinking of trying a tri? You may be spending more time in the checkout line than the finish line. The average income of triathletes last year was $126,000, according to a 2012 report by USA Triathlon, which oversees triathlon events. The group found that of the money triathletes spent on their hobby last year, about half went to purchasing their bike. Eight percent of the money they spent went to clothing, while 11 percent went to shoes. RedEye asked Fleet Feet Sports for gear on a triathlete's wish list if money were no object.
