A Day Off: Our winning photo plus the next RedEye Photo Challenge

Wednesday, August 31, 2011 Hi, everyone. Photo Challenge guru Scott Kleinberg here. Photo Challenge (theme:A Day Off) has come to an end. Y'all really know how to unwind - this looks like a great way to spend a day off. As you may know, taking the top spot comes with some prizes: 1. In conjunction with the Digital Photo Academy, the winner will have the opportunity to attend a workshop in Chicago! The workshops are for people of all levels. You can learn more about the Digital Photo Academy and the workshops at this link. 2. Your photo featured in our gallery on RedEye's website (along with some editor's comments about why your photo was so special). 3. This week, your photo will appear on Page 2 in Thursday's RedEye. Read below the photos for all the details on next week's challenge. Thanks so much to everyone that participated! We start with the honorable mentions, then go to the five finalists and save the best for last - the winner. Next week's contest Your assignment: Shoot photographs with the theme "Change." Explanation: It's a little too early for the fall theme, but it's not too early for change, which is kind of similar. Kids go back to school, summer steps aside slowly, etc. But keep in mind that change isn't just change. An artsy shot of the coins in your pocket? That's change too. **REMEMBER: A day off can be a weekend.** My advice as always: Have fun and be creative - that's the No. 1 way to get our attention. Upon completion: Email the photograph into redeyetalk@gmail.com with "redeyephoto" in the subject line. ***NOTE: Because I get so many photos, you must include the word redeyephoto in the subject line otherwise I can't guarantee I'll see your entry. Please include your name, your age, your neighborhood, location of the photograph and caption information.*** Firm Deadline: Noon Central Time every Wednesday. The dossier: We want to capture the best images Chicagoans have to offer. Every week we will have a new theme, and RedEye will select the best photograph to run in the paper. Official rules Read them all right here.
