Happy 178th birthday, Chicago!
Wednesday marks 178 years since the city was incorporated in 1837.
Here are a few reasons why after 178 years, the Second City is second to none.
• With SNL poaching our talent, it's no wonder Chicago has been deemed the funniest city in America by experts from the Humor Research Lab at the University of Colorado.
• We live in the greatest drinking city in America. Thanks, GQ, but we already knew that.
• The Art Institute of Chicago was voted by TripAdvisor as the best museum in the world. Again, no big surprise to us.
• We are a city of foodies. But it's not just all about the deep dish. The food and drink site The Daily Meal crowned Chicago as having the best burger in the country at Kuma's Corner, the best hot dog at Fat Johnnie’s Famous Red Hots and the best doughnut at the Doughnut Vault.
That was all just in the past year.
We also got snubbed on Forbes' list of coolest cities in America, but Chicago made the list for snobbiest cities (#17) by Travel + Leisure magazine and topped the bed bug cities list and "rattiest city" list by Orkin, the pest control company.
All that aside, there's so many reasons to love the Windy City that we can't just pick one.
The Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St., will be hosting a birthday party from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday with special remarks and music to pay tribute to the city.
