Not everyone has been on a great date, but we've all definitely been on bad ones. Ones that were so bad, they even left a sour taste in our mouths for the place we had the date at. This is a story about one of those dates.
I love Old Town Social. It's one of my favorite bars in the city, but after the first date with this guy, I'm not planning on heading back for a while--or at least until I can erase the memories of this date.
My friend and I decided to head to the downtown Moe’s Cantina on a Friday night after we had finished work. We were sitting at the bar discussing the awesomeness of Shaun White when two guys sitting farther down the bar decided to voice their opinions on the matter. Apparently, they had been listening to our discussion for a while, since they knew everything we had talked about. We ended up chatting with them for about an hour. Before we left one of them asked for my phone number and I gave it to him. He called me twice for a date, and, eventually, we arranged to meet up at Old Town Social two weeks later.
The date started off well enough, talking about our jobs, where we liked to hang out, etc. After about a half-hour or so, before I had even finished my first beer, the lighthearted conversation we were having took a strange turn and I was drilled with only questions about sex. Questions like, “Have you ever had a threesome?” “Would you ever have a threesome?” “What if it was two guys and you?” “What’s the farthest you’re willing to go when you’re having sex?” “What are your fantasies?” I refused to answer that question and he responded with, “Well, if you’re not gonna tell me, I’m just gonna keep asking you.” “What are your expectations when you have sex with a guy?” “Thongs are way hotter than lingerie, what kind of underwear do you wear?” “Have you ever danced for your man?” ”What are your expectations when you have sex with a guy?” “What do you hope a guy will do to you when you are having sex with him?”
You get the picture. The cherry on top of my sundae was when he asked me to stand up and turn around so that he could take a look at my ass. Many of my girlfriends asked me why I didn’t leave or throw a drink in his face after he asked me that. For some reason, I chose to do neither and as I look back now, I have no idea why I chose that route. Probably because I had already set up an excuse to leave and had my girlfriend text me at 11 so that I could get the hell out of there. We ended up leaving the bar around 11:15. I lied and told him that I had plans to meet up with some friends in Wrigleyville. He hailed the first cab he saw and left me standing on the corner.
