Woman sexually assaulted at knifepoint, police suspect attacker with Mohawk

A man with an unusual hairstyle who is known for sexually attacking women at knifepoint struck again early Sunday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

The man, who has a long Mohawk-style haircut pulled back into a pony tail, was behind the wheel of a blue car when he confronted a 31-year-old woman walking on North Avenue between Homan Avenue and Pulaski Road, according to a community alert from Grand Central Area detectives.

The man then held a large knife to the woman while he sexually assaulted her about 1 a.m. in a nearby alley in the 1400 block of Monticello Avenue, the alert said.

The suspect is known to sexually assault women who have high-risk lifestyles while armed with a knife. He frequent an area around the 3500 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue, the alert said.

The man is also suspected of at least one other similar assault in the Shakespeare police district, according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan. Details were not immediately available.

The man is described as being 35 years old, standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a stocky build. His hair, shaved on the sides, is usually worn long Mohawk–style and is pulled back into a ponytail, the alert said. He is Hispanic with a medium complexion and has a tattoo of a cross on his right shoulder, the alert said.
