A man found dead in the trunk of a car on the West Side over the weekend had been missing since Friday and his home recently been burglarized, according to police and relatives.

Officers discovered the body after receiving a call for a "well-being" check at 525 S. Denvir Avenue – a tiny one-block street between Congress Parkway and Harrison Street about a block and a half west of Western Avenue – about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The car was registered to a man who lives in the 4400 block of South Artesian Avenue who was reported missing on Friday, police said.

Authorities found that man's home had been burglarized, and police said the car may have been taken during the crime, police said.

Authorities were withholding the name of the victim Monday.

Chicago police are conducting a death investigation, News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
