It's time to prove that you "ain't afraid of no ghost."
"Ghostbusters," the 1984 comedy about three scientists-turned-ghost-hunters, will return to the silver screen just in time for Halloween. The film will be shown at 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at Lake Theatre, 1022 Lake St. in downtown Oak Park.
The screening is a part of Oak Park's "Green Halloween" celebration, a family-friendly event Oct. 19. Event participants are encouraged to follow the "Green Pumpkin Trail," with stops along the way at bake shops and pumpkin patches. The entire event, including the "Ghostbusters" screening, is free.
The cult classic stars Evanston native Bill Murray, along with fellow "Saturday Night Live" alum Dan Aykroyd and Chicagoan Harold Ramis. Ever since the film's theatrical debut nearly 30 years ago, the "Ghostbusters" franchise has maintained a strong following, including a website chock-full of ghoulish apparel, video games and iPhone apps.
Costumes for the event are optional. But seriously, they sell costumes on the website, too.
