The Chicago Police Department is warning retail shops in West Town of an uptick in armed robberies in the past month.
In at least four incidents, a police alert said, one or two black men between ages 22 and 35, and wearing black sweatshirts with lettering, entered the shops and robbed the stores while displaying handguns. In two cases, the offender also was wearing a blue Indianapolis Colts baseball cap.
The incidents were reported May 27 at 2:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, May 30 at 4:39 p.m. in the 2800 block of West Belden Avenue and at 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Damen Avenue, and June 8 at 3:20 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue.
Neighborhood businesses include Lululemon Athletica, Intermix, the Goddess and the Grocer, and Dimo's Pizza.
