The Windy City Times has announced an LGBT youth homelessness summit to be held in Chicago in early May, and it is seeking donations and volunteers for the event.
The summit, announced Monday, is a follow-up to the LGBT publication's "Generation Halsted" series, which focused on issues faced by the city's gay youth, such as homelessness and education. Scheduled for May 2-5 at locations throughout the city including University of Illinois at Chicago and the Museum of Broadcast Communications, the summit will host workshops on housing, public policy, legal affairs, safety and health care issues.
A full schedule on the summit, titled "Owning our lives: Dream it. Speak it. Do it!!," and more details can be found at the summit's website.
According to a press release, donations and volunteers are being sought. Donations help cover the costs of food, stipends for youth attendees and staffing.
