The Chicago Police Department is warning 2nd District residents of taxi robberies that took place in Grand Boulevard in the past month.

In both incidents, a male offender hailed a taxicab, took it to the 4700 or 4800 blocks of South Michigan Avenue, and then upon arriving at the destination produced a handgun and demanded the driver's money and cell phone, the alert said.

The man was described as black, 20 to 29 years old, 5'6" to 5'8", and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. 

The first incident took place on June 14 at about 3:40 a.m., and the second incident took place on July 2 at about 2:30 a.m.
