Old Town and Lincoln Park businesses and homes have experienced more burglaries this month, according to two Chicago Police Department alerts released Wednesday afternoon.
Several businesses reported to the police that uknown burglars pried open their front doors and removed money from cash registers or nearby money bags, the alert said.
The businesses were all near the Old Town Triangle and North/Clyborn industrial corridor, the alert said. Those areas include such busineses as the Container Store, i9 Sports and the Village Cycle Center, but no businesses were named in the alert.
The incidents were reported Oct. 13 in the 1000 block of West North Avenue, between Oct. 15 and 16 in the 400 block of West North Avenue, and between Oct. 17 and 18 in the 200 block of West Evergreen Avenue. The incidents took place overnight or in the early evenings, the alert said.
Two local residential garages also were burglarized by an unknown offender in the past month, the alert said, both in the 1100 block of West Armitage Avenue. The first incident was reported overnight Sept. 17-18, and the second occurred between Oct. 10 and 14.
