To those who host the best dinner parties, prepare the finest meals for their families or are constantly making co-workers jealous with their homemade lunches--now’s your time to shine.
The Food Network will be hosting an open casting call for a new series "America’s Greatest Home Cook" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at The Wooden Spoon.
The open casting call is looking for "food fanatics" who prepare "elevated dishes completely from scratch" to audition for the "The Great Food Truck Race" producers’ latest endeavor.
Interested applicants should arrive at The Wooden Spoon on Saturday morning with a prepared savory dish, a photo of the dish as well as its recipe. Contestants are responsible to keep the dish at its desired temperature: no warming or cooling appliances will be provided.
Plating of the dish will take place at The Wooden Spoon, and contestants are expected to bring all utensils needed to plate.
Applying beforehand at rrcastinghomecooks.weebly.com isn’t necessary, but encouraged. Anyone may show up at The Wooden Spoon with a dish to be considered.
The show is looking for the greatest home cook so, of course, no professional chefs may apply. Amateur home cooks who have never graduated from culinary school or worked extensively in a professional kitchen will be considered.
The Wooden Spoon is at 5047 N. Clark St. in Andersonville.
