D. Cameron Findlay, ADM's recently hired senior vice president and general counsel, last month paid $2.62 million for a 21st-floor condo in a new tower in Chicago's Lincoln Park community.

Findlay closed on the unit in early September, before Archer Daniels Midland Co. announced it's planning to move its headquarters, possibly to Chicago. It is seeking $24 million in state tax incentives as part of its move.

Findlay joined the company in July from Medtronic. He did not respond to an email asking about the purchase.

Victoria Podesta, spokeswoman for Decatur, Ill.-based ADM, insisted the company has not yet made a decision — even privately — on where it will move its headquarters. She noted Findlay is a Chicago-area native, but that "the reasons people buy homes are private, and I won't comment on that."

"He works out of our corporate office, and he's prepared to work where he's needed," she said. A Northwestern University alumnus, Findlay is also a former top lawyer at Chicago-based Aon Corp.

WLS-Ch. 7 sports anchor sells house

WLS-Ch. 7 sports anchor and reporter Jim Rose recently sold his three-bedroom, 1,600-square-foot condo in the Fulton Market district on the Near West Side for $760,000.

Rose, 60, has been with ABC-7 for 31 years. He paid $672,500 for the condo in 2007, buying it shortly before selling a house in Tinley Park where he had lived for 14 years for $715,000.

Earlier this year, Rose told Elite Street his wife wanted to "test the real estate market," so they listed the condo in May for $750,000. "Someone gave us $10,000 more than we wanted, so we sold it," Rose said.

Rose and his wife bought the unit from its building's developer. Features include 2 1/2 baths, 18-foot glass walls, painted concrete ceilings, a 230-square-foot terrace that spans across all rooms, walnut hardwood floors, two garage spaces, and a kitchen with natural Wenge wood cabinets, concrete countertops and a concrete bar.

"It was a nice building," said Rose, whose wife was the interior designer for building when it was built. "My wife did a fabulous job,'' he said. The couple is looking for their next place to live.

Former commissioner sells home for $1.16M

Former Cook County Commissioner Joseph Mario Moreno just sold his six-bedroom house in the University Village neighborhood for $1.16 million.

In July, Moreno, 61, pleaded guilty to three different fraud schemes and faces up to 17 1/2 years in prison when he is sentenced in federal court Jan. 6.

Built in 2007, Moreno's 4,500-square-foot house had been the subject of a foreclosure suit his lender initiated in April.

Features include custom millwork, an open layout, two fireplaces, a three-car garage, a custom Amphion whole-house sound system, a kitchen with a large pantry, granite countertops and Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and a master suite with a seating area and a spa bath with mosaic tile, a split vanity, a terrazzo shower and a soaking tub.

Moreno, who was indicted in June 2012, first listed the house in November for $1.4 million and reduced his asking price several times, dropping it to $1.18 million before going under contract.

Moreno paid $1.48 million for the home in 2007.

Moreno's listing agent, Eugene Fu of @properties, declined to comment on the deal.
