GoldCoast Logistics Group officially announced its new $15 million headquarters and industrial warehouse in Elgin, which will feature a few whistles and bells not typically found in such buildings.

Among them, there will be 26 dorm rooms, spa facilities with wet and dry saunas, a cigar room, a half-sized basketball court, indoor and outdoor exercise facilities, and a roof-top deck.

Company founder Dragos Sprinceana was on hand Thursday at the ceremonial event for what he called a state-of-the-art facility on which construction has already started.

The idea is to provide appealing workspace for every level of employee, which will not only help retain staff and drivers but lure logistics specialists who might otherwise seek to work in Chicago, company officials said.

“I would like to thank the city of Elgin for allowing us to be part of the family and allowing us to build this beautiful terminal here,” Sprinceana said, speaking to the crowd gathered in front of the spot where the building was going up at 1425 Madeline Lane, off Big Timber Road and near Interstate 90.

The development becomes the newest entry in Elgin’s thriving industrial development market, which has seen more than 1.5 million square feet of new industrial space added since 2020.

GoldCoast worked with brokers from NAI Hiffman in securing the site, and the 61,888-square-foot facility — a 38,000-square-foot warehouse and 23,000-square-foot office building with driver dormitories — was designed by PanCor, an Elgin firm.

The upscale office space will have a three-story glass curtain wall and a two-story atrium with a steel and glass staircase, officials said.

Sprinceana founded GoldCoast in 2010 with two employees and two trucks, and in the last decade has see it burgeon into a company that boasts 500 trucks and 750 employees in Elgin, Arizona and Florida, he said. Revenue is expected to reach $200 million by year’s end, company officials said.

“There’s a reason why this business is what it is. It’s your blood, sweat, and tears,” Kelly Disser, NAI Hiffman executive vice president for industrial service, said in reference to Sprinceana’s success. “This is a day to really celebrate Dragos, GoldCoast and every employee.”

Tony Lucenko, economic director for the Elgin Development Group, said it was good to see the project come to fruition after months of discussion and work.

“(GoldCoast) is going to be a great contributor to the local economy,” Lucenko said. “We need more logistics transportation companies in the Elgin area because we continue to grow.”

Construction should be done by December, officials said. Fifty new jobs are expected to be created.
