A woman was killed when she walked onto the Kennedy Expressway and was hit by a semi overnight, according to authorities.

The 25-year-old woman was struck around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday in the outbound lanes near Addison Street. Police said she stepped into traffic but weren't sure why.

The woman, from out of state, died at the scene, authorities said. No one else was injured.

No citations were issued to the truck driver.
