No bomb found after Southwest Side threat shuts intersection

An Ashburn neighborhood intersection was shut down this morning as police investigate a bomb threat made by a man they arrested following a traffic stop, but investigators found no evidence the threat was genuine.

The intersection of Kedzie Avenue and 77th Street in Ashburn was closed to traffic after the man told police he had an explosive device in his vehicle when police took him into custody at 9:18 a.m., Chicago Police News Affairs Office Ana Pacheco said.

The intersection was closed as Police Bomb and Arson officers investigated the threat. Pacheco did not have immediate information on why the man was arrested.
