Misdemeanor charges have been filed against a South Shore man accused of throwing an 8-month-old girl out of a car during an argument with a woman, authorities said.
Joseph Fults, 46, of the 7400 block of South Phillips Avenue, has been charged with hitting a 23-year-old woman, striking her 7-year-old son when he tried to intervene and then throwing an 8-month-old girl out the car window.
The 8-month-old was hit by the vehicle as it sped off, police said.
Both children suffered bruises and were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.
Fults was arrested soon after the incident, which occurred around 2:40 a.m. Monday in the 7500 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, police said.
He was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery causing bodily harm and one count of misdemeanor domestic battery, police said. He was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
