A man in his 20s grabbed a teenage girl jogging in the Gage Park neighborhood Tuesday night and tried to drag her into a car with several people inside, police said.

The girl, who is 15, was jogging southbound on South California Avenue near West 50th Street when a dark blue car pulled next to her between 8:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.

A man in his 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark brown shorts, jumped out of the car, grabbed the girl's arm and told her to "get in the car," according to a community alert from police.

Four of five other males were in the car, police said.

The girl managed to free herself and run away, and the car drove off southbound on California, according to police.

Police did not immediately release detailed descriptions of the girl's attacker or the others in the car.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Area Central detectives at (312)-747-8380.
