A driver who had gotten out of his semi to take pictures of damage from an accident was struck and killed by a truck turning onto Division Street in the Noble Square neighborhood this morning.

The driver had been involved in an accident with a van on Division Street just east of the Kennedy Expressway about 6:25 a.m., according to authorities.

He got out of his semi to take photos of the damage, and a truck turning east onto Division Street struck him with its rear wheels, officials said. The driver died at the scene.

The woman driving the van witnessed it and was traumatized, authorities said. She was taken to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in fair-to-serious condition.

The driver of the semi that hit the man was not injured, authorities said.

The outbound Kennedy Expressway ramp to Division Street was closed while Chicago police investigated the accident, police said.
