Police are warning South and Southwest Side residents after several people reported the theft of wheels and tires from their vehicles in late August.

Authorities say the suspect or suspects have left vehicles resting on blocks after stealing wheels and tires. The vehicles targeted have been parked on the street, police said.

The thefts allegedly occurred:

• In the 2700 block of West 37th Place on Aug. 22

• In the 1800 block of West 34th Place on Aug. 25

• In the 3100 block of South Princeton Avenue on Aug. 25

• In the 5000 block of South Halsted Street on Aug. 25

• In the 2900 block of South Canal Street on Aug. 28

• In the 2800 block of South Wells Street on Aug. 28

• In the 2300 block of West 49th Street on Aug. 30

The thefts have occurred during both daylight and overnight hours, according to police.
