Cops: Man walked into home and fondled sleeping woman

A 33-year-old man was ordered held in lieu of $500,000 after being charged with walking into a woman's Waukegan home over the weekend and fondling her as she slept, Waukegan police said today.

About 7 a.m. Sunday, Waukegan police were called to the 2600 block of Cornelia Street for a report of a suspicious person, police said.

When they arrived at the home, they were told by a 25-year-old woman that a man entered her apartment through an unlocked door. Once inside, the man touched her as she slept.

The woman was able to grab her young child and flee her apartment. She gave police a description of the suspect and police arrested Lliau Moreno-Tepecha a short distance away, police said. Police said the suspect was homeless.

Police questioned Moreno-Tepecha, who admitted to the crime, police said.

He was charged with home invasion, criminal trespass to residence, criminal sexual abuse, attempted criminal sexual assault and residential burglary, police said.

He has an Aug. 12 court date in Lake County court.
