Three men were wounded when a robbery erupted into a shoot-out in a hallway of an apartment building in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

Two armed men had tried to rob another man in the 1400 block of West 90th Street just after 11 p.m. Wednesday, police said. The three exchanged gunfire and one of the robbers, 22, was hit in the chest and the other, 18, was wounded in the arm, police said.

The 32-year-old man being robbed was also shot in the chest, police said.

The 18-year-old was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and then released into police custody. The other two to Advocate Christ Medical Center, both in serious condition.

Police did not release any more details of the robbery and shooting.

In another shooting, two men walked into Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center early this morning with gunshot wounds after someone shot their car about 2:30 a.m.

They said it happened near Cicero and Diversey avenues but police found no crime scene there.

A 34-year-old was shot in the chest and arm and the second man with him, 39, was grazed and refused treatment.

The 34-year-old was transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.
