Ben & Jerry's truck rolls into Chicago with free ice cream
Ben & Jerry's Scoop Truck is set to arrive in Chicago Friday. (Ben & Jerry's / August 1, 2014)
The company’s Scoop Truck will be in Chicago for the first time Friday, giving away free scoops of two flavors in its Cores line, Salted Caramel and Hazed and Confused.
Where in Chicago? That’s a bit of a mystery but the truck plans to pull up to local community events, businesses and non-profits and stay in the Windy City until Aug. 26. A company storyteller will also be on hand. The company suggests people follow @BenJerrysTruck to keep tabs on the truck’s destination and tweet it try and encourage the truck to pull up to a specific location.
In 1984, President Reagan designated July as national ice cream month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day.
