Mayor Emanuel stopped by the CTA Roosevelt station this morning to thank commuters for their patience during the NATO summit.

More than 20 bus lines were rerouted during the NATO summit, which ended Monday. Some CTA train commuters also endured delays because of NATO activities, while some Metra riders saw station closures and increased security measures.

"I wanted to personally thank the people of the South Loop this morning and all Chicagoans for their hospitality and patience as we demonstrated that our city is a world-class and first-class host," Emanuel said in a statement provided to RedEye.

The mayor was at the South Loop stop, which serves the Orange, Red and Green Lines, for about 30 minutes this morning, his spokeswoman Tarrah Cooper said. The mayor took a car to get to the station, Cooper said.
