The CTA on Monday began work on rehabbing the Harrison Red Line stop in Printer's Row, adding to its growing list of spring construction projects that includes shutting down a portion of the Orange Line this weekend. RedEye breaks down the CTA work by line.
>> Blue Line: The CTA is trying to ease the slow zones on the O'Hare branch in a four-year, $492 million project. The agency is scheduled to close a portion of the Blue Line for seven weekends into August.
Bus shuttles will replace the Blue Line between the Western and Damen stops on the O'Hare branch from 10 p.m. April 25 to 4 a.m. April 28.
Shuttles are scheduled to be in place between the Logan Square and Western stops on the O'Hare branch for the weekends of May 9, May 30, June 6, June 20, July 25 and Aug. 8.
>>Brown Line: Work continues on a $71 million slow zone removal project between the Armitage and Merchandise Mart stops. Brown Line trains will run single-track between the Armitage and Sedgwick stops from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. April 26 and 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27.
>> Green Line: Northbound trains will bypass the Indiana station Tuesday-Thursday, 9:05 a.m. to 2:25 p.m., as the CTA works on the platform at that Bronzeville station.
Work also continues on building a new station on Cermak Road by McCormick Place. Look for reroutes associated with that $50 million Near South Side project.
>> Orange Line: The $25 million track work kicks off this weekend. Shuttle buses will replace the Orange Line between the Halsted and Roosevelt stations from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday. Rail service between those stations will be cease during four other weekends including May 2-May 5 and May 16-May 19.
>> Red Line: The CTA on Monday began its $10 million infrastructure overhaul of the Harrison stop by closing the Polk entrance until May 26. The main station entrances on Harrison Street will be closed from June 16 to July 28.
The Harrison stop will be completely closed the weekends of May 2, May 9, May 16, May 30 and June 6 from 11 p.m. Fridays until 4 a.m. Mondays.
Meanwhile, the CTA continues to perform track maintenance on the North Side. Northbound trains will bypass the Addison stop in Wrigleyville on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:50 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
