The CTA will finish mailing all Ventra cards by the end of next week to Chicago Card users who have verified their mailing addresses, the agency said Wednesday.
Some Chicago Card users have been complaining on social media that they have not received their cards yet despite filling out the pertinent information. Ventra, the CTA's new fare payment system, became available to all CTA and Pace riders on Monday.
The CTA said more than 375,000 Ventra cards have been distributed. This number includes university and Chicago Public Schools passes that were mostly doled out last month.
The agency said it has been mailing 15,000 Ventra cards a day.
The CTA said it sold 18,000 Ventra cards through vending machines and retailers on Monday and Tuesday. More than 700 retailers have been offering Ventra cards in their stores since Monday.
Ventra cards accounted for $205,000 in sales Tuesday and $634,000 in sales over the last week, the CTA said.
The CTA will continue to offer its current fare system for the next few months as the agency transitions to Ventra. Chicago Cards will not be accepted on the CTA ater Nov. 15. The agency will stop allowing disposable magnetic stripe cards on Dec. 15.Copyright © 2015, RedEye
