The CTA will be holding two open houses next month about express bus service on Jeffery Boulevard.
The CTA received an $11 million federal grant last year to launch bus rapid transit, which typically relies on bus-only lanes for expedited service, along Jeffery Boulevard from 103rd Street and Stony Island Avenue to Jefferson and Washington Streets downtown.
The CTA is holding an open house at the Chicago Public Library Avalon Park branch, 8148 S. Stony Island Ave., June 8 from 4-6 p.m. A second open house will be held June 9 from 6-8 p.m. at CTA headquarters, 567 W. Lake St.
Mayor Emanuel says implementing BRT is a priority. His administration is expected to explore whether Western or Ashland Avenue should have BRT service.
