The CTA announced Thursday it will be naming a new fare system it shares with Pace "Ventra." Ventra will start next summer. CTA spokesman Brian Steele said the name Ventra" is derived from the Latin word "ventus," meaning "wind." Steele said the name is an homage to Chicago's nickname "The Windy City." "Ventra reinforces public transit as an integral part of Chicago's culture and history," Steele said. But the CTA is not alone in using "Ventra." RedEye looks at other entities named "Ventra."
