CTA retires 2200-series cars with accordion doors
The CTA on Thursday retired its fleet of 2200-series cars that have accordion doors and run on the Blue Line. The CTA held a farewell ride from the Rosemont to the Jefferson Park stations. Decals outside the car denoted that it was a goodbye ride. Inside the cars were advertisements from the late 1960s and early 1970s, when the cars first went into service.

The 2200 series cars joined the CTA's fleet in 1969 and moved permanently to the Blue Line by the summer of 1983.
