A woman was shot while riding a CTA bus on Chicago's South Side.

A 57-year-old woman was shot and wounded while riding a CTA bus in the Englewood neighborhood this evening, authorities said.

Police said the woman was in a doorway of an eastbound bus trying to get off when one person, who had been arguing with another person, fired into the bus. She was not the intended target, police said.

The woman was shot in the right arm and chest in the 300 block of West 69th Street about 8:38 p.m., said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

The woman was taken in good condition from 69th and Yale Avenue to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Chicago Fire Department's media office.

The woman was riding an eastbound No. 67/67th-69th-71st Street bus when the incident took place, said CTA spokesoman Katherine Hosinski.
