A 73-year-old woman fell from a Red Line platform at 87th Street but suffered only minor injuries from a train that was stopping at the station this morning, officials said.
The woman was on the platform, then fell onto the tracks around 8:55 a.m. and came in contact with a northbound Red Line train that was arriving at the station, said CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis. The woman suffered a minor head injury.
By the time firefighters arrived, the woman was on the platform, apparently having been helped up by others at the station. She was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center in good condition, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
Red Line trains were delayed for about 20 minutes as power was shut off on the third rail south of 63rd Street. Trains were turned around there.
