Chicago Transit Authority officials said that a locking mechanism on the newly reconstructed Wells Street bridge prevented three Brown Line trains from crossing the Chicago River this morning.

The issues began shortly after 11 a.m. when the CTA prevented three trains from crossing and resumed operations at 12:11 p.m., said CTA spokeswoman Tammy Chase.

Chase referred questions about the bridge to Chicago Department of Transportation officials who could not be reached for comment.

According to the CTA Website, the trains were running normally.
