Power was shut down and firefighters responded after a person was discovered on the right-of-way on the CTA Red Line in Rogers Park this evening, a CTA spokeswoman said.
Power was shut off from Thorndale Avenue to Howard Street on the Red Line after the person was found to be on the tracks at the Jarvis Avenue stop, 1523 W. Jarvis Ave., at 5:19 p.m., said CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis. The person experienced a "medical emergency," according to the CTA.
Service was resuming, with some delays on the Red and Purple lines, as of about 5:45 p.m., according to the CTA.
The person did not make contact with the third rail or a train, Lukidis said.
