CTA officials said trains are beginning to move on the Red and Purple lines after a power outage at the Howard Avenue yard impacted switches.

The incident is causing delays on the Red, Purple and Yellow Lines which had trains stuck at the station, officials said. Power was reported out at 5:06 p.m. and was up again at 5:55 p.m.,  when trains began moving again, said Catherine Hosinski. Yellow line service was restored at 6:24 p.m., she said.

Because of the delays CTA officials are suggesting that  commuters use bus service including the No. 22, No. 36, No. 151, the No. 8 or the Lake Front buses as alternates, Hosinski said.

The cause was not immediately available.
