A man aboard a CTA bus attacked its driver Monday afternoon, causing the bus to plow into a parked car in the Albany Park neighborhood, police said.
Arnold Ward, whose address is unavailable, 30, is charged with felony aggravated battery to a transit worker, according to police. Ward is expected to appear in bond court today.
Ward began hitting the driver in the head with his fists while the bus, CTA bus No. 6818, was in motion Monday afternoon in the 3400 block of West Montrose Avenue and the bus ended up slamming into a parked car, police said.
Officers were flagged down by two people, one of whom had been aboard when the incident happened. When police boarded the stopped bus, Ward had been pinned to the floor by one of the bystanders, according to police.
The driver was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital with injuries to his back and right shoulder and bruising to the head, police said.
