Chicago one of the best cities in the world

Chicago may not be the best - though many of us beg to differ - but we made the list of Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards 2011. The title of best city in the world goes to Bangkok for the second year in a row. Among the top 10 cities in the U.S. and Canada, the Windy City landed at No. 3, a one-spot bump from last year. That means Chicago is behind New York and Charleston, S.C. The results revealed Thursday are from an online survey conducted from Dec. 15, 2010 to March 31, 2011 in which Travel + Leisure magazine readers rated cities based on six characteristics: sights, culture/arts, restaurants/food, people, shopping, value. Readers also rated hotels, islands, cruises and spas. Other Chicago notables: The Peninsula: #1 Best Large City Hotel in the U.S. and Canada, #9 Best Hotel Spa in the U.S. and Canada, #44 World's Best Hotel Elysian Hotel: #3 Best Large City Hotel in the U.S. and Canada, #86 World's Best Hotel Trump International Hotel & Tower: #4 Best Large City Hotel in the U.S. and Canada, #96 World's Best Hotel Ritz-Carlton, a Four Seasons Hotel: #17 Best Large City Hotel in the U.S. and Canada Park Hyatt: #45 Best Large City Hotel in the U.S. and Canada.
