Summer brings out much of the best in Chicago area

When I saw this French white wine on sale at Whole Foods I bought a bottle on the grounds that even if it was awful, it was only $7.99. It turned out to be good. Online, I found this comment from a reviewer who admitted he, too, had bought it skeptically:

"What sets the de Pouy apart is a green apple sort of citrus note that balances everything and takes the wine where most $10 wines don't go."

It's available at various places, including Binny's.

9. A good poem

Flipping through a poetry book the other day, I came across Raymond Carver's "At Least," which ends like this:

I hate to seem greedy — I have so much

to be thankful for already.

But I want to get up early one more morning, at least,

And go to my place with some coffee and wait.

Just wait, to see what's going to happen.
