New Chicago Cubs bench coach Brandon Hyde has paid $625,000 for a four-bedroom, 4,500-square-foot house in Evanston.
Hyde, 40, spent this past season in the Cubs' front office, as director of player development. He was named bench coach Nov. 22 and will work alongside new manager Rick Renteria.
The Colonial-style house, built in 1937, has a new kitchen with an island, a first-floor office, a four-season sunroom on the first floor and a finished basement with a media room and bar.
The house first had been listed in March for $675,000, then was reduced the next month to $650,000 before it was sold to Hyde.
"We're really happy about the area and the house," Hyde said.
Paul Gorney, of Prudential Rubloff, represented Hyde and called the house "really a great value."
