Chicago Bears offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod, who joined the team in March after signing a five-year, $35 million deal, has paid $790,000 for a four-bedroom, 3,500-square-foot house in Vernon Hills.
Bushrod, 28, previously was with the New Orleans Saints, helping rally them to a Super Bowl victory in 2010.
Bushrod's house, built in 2001, had been listed for $824,900. Features include four baths, a two-story foyer, Brazilian cherry floors, golf course views, and a kitchen with granite countertops, cherry cabinets and an island. The 0.28-acre property includes a pool.
Bushrod closed on the deal in late June; the transaction only recently appeared in public records.
Michele Wilson of Coldwell Banker represented Bushrod.
Ex-Bull Sefolosha sells town home
Former Chicago Bulls guard/forward Thabo Sefolosha took a loss last month on his three-bedroom town home in Northbrook, selling it for $450,000.
The Swiss-born Sefolosha, 29, now with the Oklahoma City Thunder, had the town home on and off the market for more than four years. He played for the Bulls from 2006 until 2009 and, like several of his Bulls teammates from that era, opted to live in the gated Royal Ridge town home development in Northbrook, paying $630,000 in late 2006 for his 2,511-square-foot unit.
Sefolosha originally listed the eight-room unit for $599,000 but then took it off the market. He later relisted it for $519,000, then reduced his asking price to $499,000.
"Unfortunately, like a lot of people, he bought at the height of the market," said Sefolosha's listing agent, Janet Borden of Coldwell Banker.
WLS-FM's Brown sells house
WLS-FM midday host Greg Brown has sold his five-bedroom, 3,290-square-foot house in North Barrington for $530,000.
Brown, who has been on Chicago's airwaves since 1974, had owned the home since buying it in November 2004 for $675,000.
The two-story, traditional-style house, built in 1970, sits on more than 1 acre of wooded property. It has three baths, a balcony off the master bedroom, a screened porch and a fifth bedroom on the first floor that also could serve as an office.
Brown listed the house in June for $535,000. The deal closed July 31. His wife, Lorraine, was the listing agent.
WFLD's Placko sells home
WFLD-Ch. 32 reporter Dane Placko sold his three-bedroom, Victorian-style house on the Northwest Side for $403,500 on July 11.
Placko, 52, first listed the house, in the Old Irving neighborhood, in February for $459,000, later reducing its asking price to $454,000, then to $424,900.
The house, built in 1896, has a turret, a double-door entry to an open oak staircase, oak floors and trim, a full dining room with a bay window, a kitchen with a breakfast room that opens to a rear deck, a Juliet balcony off the master bedroom, and a full, high, unfinished English basement with tall windows.
Placko bought the house in 1994 for $231,000.
In late May, Placko bought a condominium unit in Park Ridge.
"After 19 years, I do miss living in Chicago," Placko told Elite Street. "Old Irving Park is a great neighborhood. But Park Ridge is a great community too, and my kids are looking forward to going to school there in the next few weeks."
