Former Chicago Bears defensive end Adewale Ogunleye has been hit for a loss on his 3,560-square-foot house in Vernon Hills, selling it Jan. 31 for $532,450.
Ogunleye, 35, played for the Bears from 2004-2009. After being released, he played briefly for the Houston Texans in 2010 before his career ended.
The house, in the Greggs Landing North development, had been on the market off and on since mid-2009. It was first listed for $649,000.
Built in 1999, the two-story, brick and cedar house has four bedrooms, 21/2 baths, a two-story foyer and a kitchen with stainless-steel appliances and granite counters. Other features include a three-car garage, a family room with a custom entertainment center and fireplace, a first-floor office and a master suite with vaulted ceilings.
Ogunleye lives in Pembroke Pines, Fla.
Corgan condo sale
Rocker Billy Corgan sold one of his two Chicago-area properties, a vintage, 3,700-square-foot condominium unit on the Gold Coast, on Friday for $2.5 million.
The Smashing Pumpkins lead singer and chief songwriter had spent more than four years trying to sell his condo, which he bought in 2002 for $2.95 million. His main residence is a Highland Park mansion on Lake Michigan that he bought in 2003 for $6.8 million.
"I know he's happy to move on," said Corgan's listing agent, Marla Nyberg of Koenig & Strey. "This was a pleasant deal to make happen. Everybody is happy."
Nyberg declined to identify the buyer, whose name is not yet disclosed in public records. However, she noted that the buyer lives in the neighborhood.
