On Saturday, Woodlawn saw its third homicide of the month and 13th homicide of the year, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
A 30-year-old man was shot to death in the 6300 block of South Ellis Avenue, police said. Woodlawn recorded eight homicides last year, RedEye data shows.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, a 55-year-old man was stabbed to death in the 200 block of West 115th Street in Roseland, police said. Roseland has seen 17 homicides so far this year. The South Side community area logged 26 homicides last year, according to RedEye data.
On Monday, a 31-year-old man was shot to death in the 2000 block of East 68th Street in South Shore, police said. South Shore has seen 17 homicides so far this year. The South Side community area recorded 16 homicides last year, RedEye data shows.
Citywide, 18 homicides have been logged so far in December. Police recorded 25 homicides in December last year, RedEye found.
