West Pullman has recorded three homicides in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data showed.
On Tuesday, a 25-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were shot to death in the 12000 block of South Eggleston Avenue, police said. Three days earlier, an 18-year-old man was fatally shot in the 12200 block of South Lafayette Avenue, according to officials.
West Pullman has logged 12 homicides so far this year, including five this month. The South Side community area recorded six homicides last year, RedEye data shows.
Meanwhile, South Chicago saw two homicides in two days this week.
On Wednesday, a 20-year-old man was fatally shot in the 8200 block of South Houston Avenue, police said. One day earlier, a 22-year-old man was shot to death in the 6100 block of South Woodlawn Avenue, according to officials.
South Chicago has logged 10 homicides so far this year. The South Side community area recorded five homicides last year, RedEye determined.
Citywide, gunshot homicides were logged in the last week in Auburn Gresham, Calumet Heights, Chatham, Chicago Lawn, Greater Grand Crossing, Roseland, West Town and Woodlawn, RedEye data found.
Meanwhile, a 55-year-old man was beaten to death Monday in the 1300 block of South Wabash Avenue on the Near South Side, police said.
Thirty-five homicides have been logged so far this month. Thirty-nine homicides were recorded in September 2011, RedEye determined.Copyright © 2015, RedEye
