West Englewood has logged five homicides so far this month including a double homicide last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
An 18-year-old man was found shot to death Monday in the 5900 block of South Winchester Avenue, according to officials.
Five days earlier, two 28-year-old men were shot to death in the 7300 block of South Laflin Street, police said.
On Nov. 3, a man was fatally shot in the 6500 block of South Bishop Street, according to officials.
One day earlier, a 27-year-old man was shot to death in the 6500 block of South Hermitage Avenue, police said.
West Englewood has logged 20 homicides so far this year. The South Side community area recorded 19 homicides last year, RedEye determined.
In the last two weeks, Auburn Gresham and West Garfield Park each have recorded two homicides.
Citywide, gunshot homicides have been logged in the last two weeks in Belmont Cragin, Chicago Lawn, East Garfield Park, Englewood, the Lower West Side and West Pullman, according to RedEye data.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old woman was stabbed to death Nov. 3 in the 4400 block of South Richmond Street in Brighton Park, police said.
Fourteen homicides have been recorded so far this month. Thirty-eight homicides were logged in November 2012, RedEye determined.
