Two teenagers were shot and killed last weekend in what is shaping up to be a deadly year for this age group compared to last year.

A 17-year-old boy was shot to death Saturday in the 2400 block of West Cermak Road on the Lower West Side, police said. One day earlier, an 18-year-old woman was fatally shot in the 1100 block of North Pulaski Road in Humboldt Park, according to officials.

Fifteen homicide victims this year were between the ages of 13 and 19, representing about 29 percent of the 52 killings, according to a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data through Wednesday afternoon.

In 2012, about 20 percent of the 515 homicide victims were between the ages of 13 and 19, RedEye determined.

Also in the last week, a 24-year-old man was shot to death Monday in the 9000 block of South Ada Street in Washington Heights, police said.

Citywide, nine homicides have been logged so far this month. Twenty-nine homicides were recorded in February 2012, according to RedEye data.
