New City logged two homicides on Monday, according to police information.

At about 9 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot to death in the 1800 block of West Garfield Boulevard, the Tribune reported.

About nine hours earlier, a 28-year-old man was fatally shot in the 2000 block of West Garfield Boulevard.

New City has recorded 12 homicides so far this year including five in July. The Southwest Side community area logged 24 homicides last year, according to RedEye data.

Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in the last week in Greater Grand Crossing, South Chicago and West Pullman, RedEye determined.

Fifty-one homicides have been logged so far this month. Forty-nine homicides were recorded in July 2012, according to RedEye data.
