The Loop, Riverdale and West Englewood each saw a homicide in the past week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
In the Loop, a 57-year-old man was shot to death Friday in the 200 block of South Wabash Avenue, police said. It was the Loop’s first homicide since May 2010, RedEye data shows.
In Riverdale, a 29-year-old man was shot to death May 4 in the 300 block of East 134th Street, officials said. Riverdale has recorded two homicides this year, RedEye determined.
In West Englewood, a 46-year-old man was shot to death Friday in the 6800 block of South Justine Street, police said. West Englewood has logged five homicides this year, according to RedEye data.
There have been four homicides so far in May. Forty-eight homicides were recorded in May last year, RedEye determined.
