Homicides were down about 32 percent in March compared to March of last year, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
March ended last week with 21 homicides, down from 31 homicides in March 2010, RedEye determined.
One homicide has been recorded so far in April, as of Wednesday afternoon, according to RedEye data.
A 41-year-old man was shot to death Saturday in Humboldt Park in the 3400 block of West Augusta Boulevard, police said.
Humboldt Park has seen seven homicides this year, the most of any community area. The community logged 29 homicides last year, the most of any community area, RedEye data shows.
Forty-seven homicides were recorded in April last year, RedEye determined.
