Greater Grand Crossing saw two homicides in the past week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
On Tuesday, a 20-year-old man was shot to death in the 6400 block of South King Drive, police said. Five days earlier, a 23-year-old man was fatally shot in the 7100 block of South Rhodes Avenue, officials said.
Greater Grand Crossing has recorded 19 homicides so far this year. The South Side community area logged 15 homicides last year, according to RedEye data.
Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in the last week in Avondale, Englewood and South Shore, RedEye determined. Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was stabbed to death Sunday in the 6600 block of South Oakley Avenue in Chicago Lawn, officials said.
Twenty homicides have been recorded so far this month. Police recorded 35 homicides in October 2010, RedEye found.
